The Problem
The roof at this Cleveland property had reached the end of its life. Old roofing materials needed to be completely removed, the decking inspected for rot and damage, and a new roofing system installed from scratch. In Northeast Ohio, a failing roof is not something you push off — one bad winter storm can turn a roof problem into a ceiling collapse.
The owner needed a full replacement done properly, with quality materials, and finished before cold weather hit.
How We Fixed It
Full Tear-Off & Decking Inspection
All existing roofing materials were safely removed down to the decking. Surrounding landscaping, windows, and exterior features were protected during demo. All debris went straight into the dumpster. The exposed decking was fully inspected — any damaged, rotted, or weakened sections were replaced with exterior-grade plywood of matching thickness.
Underlayment, Ice & Water Shield
Ice and water shield was applied in all valleys, eaves, and vulnerable areas. Synthetic underlayment was then installed over the full remaining deck surface — overlapped and fastened per manufacturer specs. This layer is what keeps the house dry if any shingle ever fails.
New Shingle Installation & Chimney Flashing
New asphalt shingles were installed to manufacturer specs — aligned evenly, fastened with corrosion-resistant roofing nails, with ridge caps and vents installed properly. All chimney flashing was replaced: step flashing, counter flashing, and apron flashing, fully sealed at every joint. After completion, gutters were cleaned, the magnetic nail sweep was run, and the property was left clean.
The Result
3893 E 57th St now has a complete new roofing system built to handle whatever Cleveland weather throws at it. New shingles, sealed flashing, proper ventilation, and a fully inspected deck underneath it all.
